ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. S# 157581. Bbl. 22". Mfg. circa. 1920. Left side of the tapered bbl. is marked with Winchester's mfg. and patent information, with the cal. designation marked towards the breech. Upper receiver tang is marked with the model designation. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Plain wood forearm and straight grip stock with checkered brown synthetic Winchester buttplate. Toeline of stock and underside of forearm cap feature added sling swivels. Lyman ivory beaded blade front sight with 3-leaf rear sight, and Lyman "Climbin' Lyman" adj. aperture rear sight mounted on the left side of the receiver. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, showing wear, thinning, and light surface oxidation primarily at contact points on the receiver and bbl. extension. Near mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows scattered superficial marks and small impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound. Buttplate exhibits a small chip at the toe.
